About AuthorsDrop
AuthorsDrop is a Canadian-developed writing and publishing platform built on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. We make long-form writing software for novelists, non-fiction authors, screenwriters, playwrights, researchers and students.
Our platform combines structured planning and writing with a Binder, Corkboard, Inspector, project templates, script-writing tools, encrypted Secure Sync and AuthorsDrop Press for book formatting, EPUB and print-ready PDF production. Our aim is to reduce the number of separate tools writers need between the first idea and a publication-ready manuscript.
AuthorsDrop offers a 30-day free trial followed by USD $89 lifetime access. We do not charge a monthly or annual subscription.

Canadian-developed AuthorsDrop aims to simplify the journey from first draft to finished book
Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada — AuthorsDrop, a Canadian-developed writing and publishing platform created for long-form writers, is bringing together planning, writing, organisation, formatting and publishing preparation in a single workspace, without requiring writers to pay an ongoing subscription.
Built from Vancouver Island, AuthorsDrop is designed for novelists, non-fiction authors, screenwriters, playwrights, researchers and students who need more structure than a conventional word processor but do not want the complexity that often comes with specialist writing software.
“We wanted to build the kind of writing environment we would want to use ourselves: structured enough to manage a book, dissertation or script, but straightforward enough that the software does not become another project to learn,” our AuthorsDrop team said.
At the centre of AuthorsDrop is a visual project structure that allows writers to organise long works into chapters, acts, scenes and supporting material. Writers can use the Binder, Corkboard, Inspector, project templates, script-writing tools and focused editing environment while moving between different parts of a large manuscript without losing sight of the whole project.
AuthorsDrop also includes Secure Sync, our encrypted cross-device system designed to keep projects aligned between supported devices while maintaining a device-first approach to writing and storage.
The platform is expanding beyond manuscript creation through AuthorsDrop Press, which allows writers to take completed prose projects into book design and publishing preparation. Press supports book layouts, trim sizes, chapter styling, front matter and the production of EPUB and print-ready PDF files.
Our public roadmap extends this further. Planned publishing-platform preparation will help authors prepare books for services including Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Draft2Digital, Apple Books and Kobo while allowing authors to retain control of their own publishing accounts, pricing and royalties.
Unlike many software products moving towards recurring subscriptions, AuthorsDrop has deliberately chosen a different commercial model. Writers receive a 30-day free trial, followed by USD $89 lifetime access.
“We believe writing software should help people finish their work rather than become another bill that follows them indefinitely,” our team said. “Our goal is to keep improving AuthorsDrop while maintaining a simple proposition: try it properly, and if it works for you, pay once and keep using it.”

AuthorsDrop brings writing, book formatting and publishing preparation into one long-form workspace
Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada — AuthorsDrop is expanding the idea of what long-form writing software should do, bringing manuscript planning, drafting, organisation, book formatting and publishing preparation together in one platform built for writers.
Our Canadian-developed platform has been designed around a simple problem: writing a book involves much more than typing words into a document. Novelists manage chapters, scenes, characters, research and revisions. Non-fiction authors need structure and supporting material. Screenwriters and playwrights work with different formatting conventions. Academic writers may be managing tens of thousands of words across complex sections.
AuthorsDrop is designed to reduce those transitions. Our writing environment includes a Binder for managing the structure of a project, Corkboard planning, an Inspector for notes and metadata, project templates, focused editing, script-writing formats, manuscript compilation and Secure Sync across supported devices.
AuthorsDrop Press extends that workflow into publishing. Writers can work with trim sizes, book layouts, chapter treatments, front matter and other publishing decisions before producing EPUB and print-ready PDF files.
“We do not think the writing process suddenly ends when the last sentence is finished,” our AuthorsDrop team said. “For independent authors in particular, finishing the manuscript is often the point at which an entirely different technical process begins. We want AuthorsDrop to make that transition considerably easier.”
The next major direction for Press is publishing-platform preparation. Rather than becoming a distributor or taking control of authors' retailer accounts, our planned approach is to help authors prepare technically suitable files and publishing information for services such as Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Draft2Digital, Apple Books and Kobo.
Academic writers are also part of our development plans. Planned academic-reference features are intended to work alongside established reference-management systems such as Zotero and EndNote.
The commercial model is simple: 30 days free, followed by USD $89 for lifetime access. No monthly subscription. No annual subscription.

Vancouver Island-developed writing platform AuthorsDrop takes aim at subscription-heavy writing software
Vancouver Island, British Columbia — A writing and publishing platform being developed on Vancouver Island is taking a different approach to the increasingly subscription-driven software industry.
AuthorsDrop is a Canadian-developed platform for people working on long-form projects including novels, non-fiction books, screenplays, stage plays, dissertations and theses. Rather than asking writers to maintain another monthly or annual software subscription, AuthorsDrop offers a 30-day free trial followed by a one-time USD $89 payment for lifetime access.
“A fifty-thousand or eighty-thousand-word manuscript is not simply a very long Word document,” our team said. “Writers are managing chapters, scenes, notes, characters, research, revisions and eventually publishing requirements. We wanted those things to belong together without making the software unnecessarily complicated.”
AuthorsDrop provides a structured writing environment built around a Binder containing the individual parts of a project. Writers can move between chapters and scenes, use visual Corkboard planning, keep notes and project information in an Inspector, work from different project templates and compile completed manuscripts into standard formats.
The platform also includes specialised support for screenplay and stage writing and encrypted Secure Sync for working across supported devices. AuthorsDrop is expanding further into publishing through AuthorsDrop Press, which provides tools for book design, trim sizes, chapter styling, front matter, EPUB production and print-ready PDF output.
“We are Canadian, but we are building for writers everywhere,” our team said. “Being based on Vancouver Island does not limit the market for software like this. A writer in British Columbia, Britain, Australia or the United States faces essentially the same problem when a manuscript grows large enough that a normal word processor starts becoming awkward.”
“The measure that matters to us is whether someone can sit down, understand the software and get on with their book,” our team said. “The technology should stay out of the writer's way.”
